

AUBURN -Laurier B. Bazinet of Oak Park in Lewiston, died peacefully Thursday December 20, 2007 at the Hospice House in Auburn. He was born on November 22, 1920 the son of William and Maria Bazinet. During his youth Larry enjoyed playing many sports, hockey being his favorite. ���Larry often told stories from his days as a bell hop at the De Witt Hotel. He was proud to serve in the United States Army stationed in India during WWII. After the war Larry married his sweetheart Fernande Sutton on July 15, 1946. They treasured 59 years together. Fern predeceased Larry on October 19, 2005. For many years Larry traveled the state of Maine as a door to door vacuum salesman for the Electrolux Corporation, eventually becoming regional branch manager. The family home on Wood Street was his office and store. Larry was once honored as the Electrolux salesman of the year in a ceremony held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. With Fern at his side they established The Vac Shak on Pleasant Street in Lewiston. After retiring they wintered in Sun City Center, Florida. There Larry made many friends playing volleyball and sitting in the sun. Larry was a member of the American Legion, C.B.I. Basha, and a past board member and President of the St.Joseph's Federal Credit Union. He was a crossword puzzle enthusiast who enjoyed reading and watching sports. He is survived by sons, John of Guatemala, Gary and his wife Karen of Poland Spring, a daughter Nancy St. Pierre and her husband Philip of Lewiston. Grandchildren Shari Cloutier and husband Jason, Kathleen Caron and husband Steven, Rebecca Bazinet, and Gregory Bazinet. Great grandchildren Benjamin Cloutier and Jonathan Caron. Brothers Napoleon and wife Shirley, Maurice, and Marcel and wife Betty. Larry was predeceased by a brother Lucien and a sister Lucille Rivard. The Bazinet family would like to thank the staff of Androscoggin Home Hospice and Clover Manor for their kindness and care given to Laurier during his illness. Bazinet 87, a resident of Clover Living Center formerly of Lewiston.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial honoring his life will be held THURSDAY 12/27 at St. Patrick's Chapel.
