

AUBURN- Lennie R. Asselin, 68, of Lewiston passed away peacefully with his loving family and friends by his side on Friday December 9, 2011 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a long battle with cancer. He was born in Lewiston on December 9, 1943 the son of the late Fern and Ruth (Cameron) Asselin. He was a 1962 graduate of Edward Little High School. He served in the U.S. Army in 1964 and 1965. Lennie was in the warehouse and distribution business for most of his career. He was president of Clark International for several years. He was a New England Sports enthusiast. He especially loved his Patriots. Lennie enjoyed coaching Little League in the community for many years. Len loved playing golf. He was a member of Martindale Country Club for over thirty years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. Len had a big influence on people. “To know Len was to love Len.”
He is survived by his loving wife Denise “The Babe”, whom he married on July 7, 2001 of Lewiston; his four children Jim Asselin of Seattle, WA, Charma Asselin of Nashville, TN, Bill Asselin and his wife Wendi of Port Angelis, WA and Coby Asselin of Auburn; his brothers Dick Asselin and his wife Irene of Auburn, Fern Asselin and his wife Murielle of Lewiston; a sister Suzette Schepers of Brooksville, FL; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass honoring Lennie’s life will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00AM at Holy Cross Church. Committal services with military honors will then follow at 1:00PM at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lennie’s memory to the Hospice House of Androscoggin 236 Stetson Road, Auburn, Maine 04210. A Memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9PM at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston 784-4023.
