Lisbon - It is with great sadness that the Chasse family announces the passing of Lisa (Bergeron) Chasse. Lisa passed away the morning of May 3rd, 2023 at the age of 62, at her home after a two year battle with stage 4 lung cancer.
Lisa was born in Lewiston, Maine in 1960 to Rose and George. She had an early passion for music, dancing, and the arts, she was a proud part of her school's marching band. Lisa got married on July 4th 1986, to her husband Michael Chasse and went on to have two children Michelle and Matthew.
Lisa started her journey in education wanting to follow her children through the school process as an education technician and substitute teacher with the Lisbon school department, but found a passion for teaching along the way. While working full time and raising her family, Lisa obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Behavioral Sciences from the University of Southern Maine. Lisa later transitioned her talents to Lewiston Public Schools, working at Martel Elementary and finally Lewiston Middle School where she ultimately followed her dream of becoming a health teacher. Lisa loved her job and retired last year due to her illness, but with a full heart.
The school communities, colleagues, and students were Lisa’s driving force and her sense of purpose. Lisa was an energetic, quirky, and a fun loving spirit that gained the hearts and minds of those she encountered. Lisa had many hobbies, she enjoyed teaching, music, dancing, painting, sewing, crafts, gaming, and just having a good time with friends and loved ones. She could twirl a baton, make a quilt, patiently put together intricate diamond art, and create and paint beautiful ceramic plates and statues.
Lisa will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 36 years, Michael; her children Michelle, Matthew, and his wife Cassandra, her grandchild Juliette, and her sister Diane, as well as numerous relatives and friends and her beloved furry cat companion Chunk. She was preceded in death by her parents Rose and George and her brother.
To honor Lisa’s memory and her positive impact on the communities she served throughout the years, there will be a celebration of life event at the Lewiston Middle School Auditorium at 4 P.M. on Friday May 19th, 2023. This event is open to everyone who knew and loved her, to celebrate her life together.
