11/15/1954-9/9/2024
Michael Alton Colby beloved husband father, brother and father, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 69 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. Michael was born at Maine General Hospital in Augusta on November 15th, 1954 to Virginia Cox (Crane/Colby) and Guy Colby.
Michael was raised alongside his brothers Guy and Paul Colby, and Ray Crane, in Livermore Falls, and at the Crane farm in Chesterville, by Virginia and Sydney Crane. It was during these formative years on the farm that he developed an impressive aptitude for mechanics, carpentry, and all things necessary to self-sufficiency.
In 1972 he graduated from Livermore Falls high school and decided to further his technical education at Central Maine Vocational Technical institute. In 1974 he began working at United Parcel Service, where he remained a loyal employee for 45 years; after 30 years working as a route delivery driver, he obtained his class A license and became a feeder driver. A mutual feeling of respect and admiration was shared by Michael and his route customers and coworkers.
In 1979 Michael married Joline St Amour of Lewiston Maine. In the early to mid 80’s they welcomed their three boys, Joshua, Jacob, and Nicholas.
In 1987 Michael and Joline built their home in Poland Maine and raised the boys there. Michael enjoyed being involved in the community and volunteered much of his free time to coach the boys youth league baseball teams.
Michael was blessed with, and thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent with his three grandchildren; Jesse Vesel of Norway Maine, and Aiiden Allen and Alexander Colby of Tempe Arizona.
Michael was one of the most compassionate, caring, dedicated souls and anyone lucky enough to have known him will forever remember his humor, kindness, and willingness to help his fellow man.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 17th at Saint Philips church at 2365 Turner Rd in Auburn Maine. Luncheon to follow.
