AUBURN: Ora M. ( Paradis ) LeCompte, 89, of New Gloucester passed away at Clover Manor in Auburn on Sunday April 10, 2016 with her family by her side following a brief illness. She was born on December 6, 1926 in Masardis, Maine a daughter of the late Peter and Eva (Roy) Paradis. She grew up in the Aroostook County area and attended local schools there. She later moved to the Lewiston \ Auburn area in the late 1940’s.
She worked from a very early age starting at Raytheon, Nichols Tea Room and The Landing, which she later purchased and changed the name to the Green Turtle, which she was extremely proud of and dedicated to for 27 years. After her retirement, she worked part-time for the VFW on Minot Ave. in Auburn, volunteered at the Good Shepard Food Bank and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and began to pick up her many hobbies.
Ora loved to paint on canvas and she always had one or two craft projects going. Mom was always making or fixing something for one of us in the family. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee or cards with her sisters and friends. She always enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Wisconsin for vacation with the family. She loved family holiday dinners together, always insisting that she cook, but the best joy she had was spending Sunday afternoons visiting with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Joseph Chagnon, Norm and Norma Jean Chagnon all of Poland, Eugene and his wife Susan of Neenah, Wisconsin, Richard and his wife Patsy Bernier of North Pole Alaska, Robert and his wife Debbie of Sanford, and Pamela Bernier and her partner Jack Ricker of New Gloucester. She also leaves behind her siblings; Armand (Mary) Paradis, Joseph (Paula) Paradis, Stella Brodeur, Mary Ann Theriault, Irene Gauthier, and Pearl (Ivan) Fifield as well as 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mom was the glue that bonded our family and she will be sadly missed. She was predeceased by her brothers Donald Paradis, Roy Paradis and Lucien Paradis. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion and Clover Health Care for being so caring and always making them laugh.
