

LEWISTON - Ovila "Bert" Bisson, 80 of Lewiston died Friday, June 27 at Russell Park Manor where he had been a resident for two years. He was born in Lewiston, December 10, 1933, son of the late Mathias and Odelie Parent Bisson. He served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Armande Blais on July 22, 1955. Bert was a very devoted husband and father. He will be remembered as a quiet, kind, generous and hard working man who deeply loved his wife and three children. He retired from Bath Iron Works in 1984. On April 6, 1990, he was awarded a second chance at life. He was the recipient of a generous gift. He received a heart transplant at Brigham & Women's' Hospital in Boston. His second chance at life was never taken for granted nor did he and his family fail to appreciate the magnitude of this generous gift. Following his transplant he discovered a new passion. He built and restored beautiful pieces of furniture that will forever be cherished by his children and future generations. He is loved, missed, remembered and honored by his wife Armande of Lewiston and his three children, Karen Eldridge and husband David of Gray, Donna LePage and husband David of Winthrop and his son Michael Bisson of Lewiston; four grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Eldridge, Joshua LePage and wife Kasey and Amanda Hinkley and husband Brandon and three great grandchildren, Kyle and Jaydon LePage and Savannah Hinkley; a sister, Laurette Moore of Lisbon and many nieces and nephews.
