After graduating from Lewiston high school in 1961, Ray enlisted in the US Air Force. Early in his career he received orders to Clark Airbase in the Philippines, where he met Frankilina, the love of his life. They met at the Airman‘s Club and swiftly fell in love. They married on February 22, 1964. Together, Ray and Frankie embarked on their life adventure starting in the Philippines, then being stationed in California, Alaska, North Dakota, New Hampshire, and right here in Maine, in Aroostook County.
After a 20 year career in the Air Force, Ray returned to his hometown of Lewiston with his family where he worked for the family paving business. He also worked for 20 years in the Lewiston school department where he would eventually retire. Ray was a loving husband, wonderful father, and spectacular grandfather. He was a devout Catholic, true patriot, and sports fanatic. Over the years, Ray took great pleasure in simple joys. Camping at the Birches, playing horseshoes, and fishing with his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. He loved cruises with Frankie and their friends, playing pool and playing cards with his buddies at The Falls in Ormond Beach, Florida, where they lived for 20 years, weekly trips with Frankie to the casino and most especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Frankilina, whom he loved dearly, his son, Raynold and his wife Debra, his younger son, Michael and his wife Heather, his three grandchildren, Britni, Colby and Kortni and her husband DeAnthony, a step grandson, Brandon and two great grandchildren, Mariam and Adam. He is also survived by his sister Jeanine Driscoll (her late husband Johnny), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his mother, Elmire, father, Fred and six siblings, Irene Michaud (and husband Jean), Larry, Clarence, Patricia Wing, Alfred, and Philip.
Those who knew Ray loved him for his humor, kindness, curiosity, work ethic, generosity, and for being the life of the party, he will be missed dearly.
