Robert was born in Lewiston on November 6, 1932, the son of late Napoleon and Marie (Lagasse) Ducharme. He graduated from St. Dominic High School in 1950. He married his forever love Lorraine (Caron) Ducharme on February 3, 1951 who passed last month. Together they built an amazing life full of love and fun.
Bob was the founder of Ducharme Bros. Inc. which he owned and ran with his brother Marcel for many years. Ducharme Bros. built many of the malls, hospitals and other commercial buildings throughout the state. It was a very successful family business that employed many family, friends and basically anyone looking for a job that wasn’t afraid to work.
Robert volunteered\ran the Beano Kitchen at the Knights of Columbus where he started a scholarship program for local high school graduates with the proceeds from the kitchen. He was always donating his time to build or fix things for family and friends. He donated regularly to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, Wounded Warriors, Boys and Girls Camps and many others.
Robert’s greatest pleasure was putting a smile on everyone’s face. He did that by always offering food, beverages, a funny story, a tickle, but somehow he was going to make you smile and laugh before you left. He loved dancing with Lorraine, playing with his kids and grandkids, fishing with his family friends, boating, playing cards, and was always the life of the party.
The family sincerely thanks Stacey Bean who provided at-home care for both Bob and Lorraine along with Androscoggin Home Hospice for the compassionate care of Robert.
Robert is survived by his children: Patricia Samson, Gerard Ducharme, Theresa Gagnon, Susanne Bedard, Laurier Ducharme, Juliette McCullough and husband Michael, Raymond Ducharme and wife Terri, JoAnn Paladino and husband Daniel, and Brian Ducharme.
