Robert V. Dufour

Lewiston- Robert Victor Dufour, lifelong resident of 5 Hartford Street, Lewiston, Maine passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 16, 2013 at Central Maine Medical Center. Robert was born on April 15, 1955, the fourth child of Florien and Lillian Dufour. He was educated in Lewiston Schools and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1973. Bob spent most of his working career at L.L. Bean’s in Freeport. Prior to that he worked at Cottle’s Supermarket and painted houses with his Uncle Don. Along with his father, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was involved in many events such as the Festival de Joie and Bingo. Bob was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots. He played slow pitch softball for many years and after his playing days were over he could be seen on the local playing fields umpiring. As his parents aged, Bob lived at home and was their primary caregiver. When he wasn’t home with his cat, Precious, he could often be found visiting his mother at D’Youville Pavillion until her death last November. Robert was a dedicated member of the East Auburn Baptist Church. He participated in different men’s group, helped in the kitchen, and particularly loved ALPHA. Robert leaves behind his brother Paul Dufour and his wife, Linda of Turner; his sister Doris and her husband, Joseph Tutlis of Carrabassett Valley; and his sister Linda Baril and her husband, Gerard of Carrabassett Valley. He also leaves behind three nieces, three nephews, and many grand nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Robert was predeceased by both of his parents. At Robert's request there will be NO visitation. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday 11 AM at East Auburn Baptist Church.
