Turner, Me – Roger M. Thibault, 72 of Turner, Maine passed peacefully in his sleep on September 7, 2018. Roger was born June 27, 1946 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston, to Adelard and Florence (Camire) Thibault who immigrated from Quebec to Lewiston in 1940’s. Roger attended Lewiston Schools and began working at a young age for his father building many area homes in Lewiston. His hard work ethic continued into his early years when he began working in the Millwright Union Local 407 with his brothers, Dickie, Maurice, Gerry and his father. He met the love of his life when he was 14 at the Rollodrome in Auburn. He continued to chase Rachel Michaud for years until she finally said yes to a date, and their love affair for each other began. They were married on October 30, 1965 at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Lewiston. Roger’s brother Dick served as best man and his sister in law Nancy served as Maid of Honor. They were blessed with the birth of their only child Rodney in July 1966. Roger enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger days with his friends, taking family trips to the White Mountains to visit swimming holes and waterfalls. He loved spending time with his father and brothers hunting and fishing. When left to care for Rodney, it would be no surprise for Rachel to come home and find that Roger and Rodney had turned the family car into a dune buggy. Roger had many talents. He had a keen eye-hand coordination which made him a fierce opponent of billiards, darts or archery. Roger was a Maine State, New England and IBO Champion of Archery with countless trophies. He was more importantly a teacher for those beginning the sport and understanding their equipment. In recent years Roger loved to cycle with his friends from Busytown and Rainbow Bicycle. It was not uncommon to see Roger biking from Turner to Bethel and back. Even though he was the “old guy”, he was not the last cyclist in the group. Roger’s greatest love was spending time with Rachel. Their trips around Maine and New Hampshire filled his heart. Roger loved spending time with his grandchildren. He could be found watching their sporting events, setting up fishing poles or setting the raft for diving and swimming on Beal’s Pond. Roger lost two very important women in his life at an early age with the passing of his beloved mother and his sister Pauline. Roger’s passing was unexpected but he lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed the outdoors and his family. He is preceded by his parents, his sister Pauline and brothers Jerry, Bob and Maurice and a brother in law, Ronald. He leaves his loving wife Rachel and their son Rodney and his wife Geanna: grandchildren: Samantha, Ryan and Max. Also his brothers and their wives: Conrad and Sharon, Richard and Nancy and sister in law Pam Urquhart, Anita Michaud, and Pauline and George Baita, his step mother Rejane Thibault and several nieces and nephews that he enjoyed spending holidays with.
