Therese (Terry) Jane Dumais was called home on February 21, 2025 at age 89 after a courageous battle with dementia and succumbed to a stroke.
She was born to Arthur and Marie (Gagnon) Parent on January 21, 1936.
One of her biggest missed opportunities she spoke of was not being able to attend high school, due to being one of eight siblings, which she helped her parents raise and care for while they worked.
As a child Terry grew up in "Little Canada" on River Street in Lewiston Maine where she continued to reside later in life with her husband and children. Many memories were made in the french community that will leave an everlasting impression in many hearts.
Terry grew up in Catholic faith and later taught religious education to young children, which she loved, for many years.
During a dance at the Pastime Club Terry laid eyes on Marcel for the very first time and it was love at first sight. She later married the love of her life, Marcel in 1958 at St. Mary's church in Lewiston Maine.
Together they shared a beautiful life while raising three rambunctious boys Paul, Dick and Ray.
Terry's career path led her to being a stay at home mom as well as working piece work hand sewing leather uppers for a local shoe mill from home. Eventually leading her to work outside of home where she worked for Mardens for 18 years. When the pair retired they became snowbirds. Spending many cold Maine winters in Florida neighboring her sister Dot.
There was never a dull moment when Terry was present. She had a big personality in a small package. She had an impact on each person she interacted with. Terry was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, full of joy, a ball of fire that showed us what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. She lived her life to the fullest, despite her many challenges. Her greatest joys and accomplishments was the gift of being a mother to her boys.
Terry loved to dance, sing and whistle a happy tune. She always did this cute little click click when she was happy. If you know, you know! She enjoyed spending time with her sons and loved soaking up all the love and joy of all her grandbabies, big and small.
Some of her hobbies were bike riding, computer card games, shopping and yard sales. She absolutely loved a great bargain. Terry had a sweet tooth that nobody could deny. Cookies, cakes, candies all of it! She also loved feasting on lobster and crabs. One of her favorite things to wear was her husband's blue sweater. She wore it every chance she had.
Terry was very loved. Her cheerfulness, quick wit and bright smile will be deeply missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Terry is predeceased by her beloved husband, her parents and five siblings.
Terry will be lovingly remembered by her three sons Paul Dumais and his partner Jodie of Sabattus, Richard Dumais and his wife Tammy of Greene as well as Raymond Dumais and his wife Jennifer of Litchfield. Along with her grandchildren Jenna, Ally, Destiny, Colby, Lindsey, Ryan, Auston and AJ. As well as her great grandchildren Roxas, Ansem, Rhylee, Kolton, Grady and Landen and other numerous family and friends.
A cremation has taken place and she will rest beside her husband's side for forever eternity.
A Liturgy of the Word will take place Friday, March 7th at 11 am at St. Peter's Cemetery in Lewiston.
