
LEXINGTON – Barbara Minott Seabrook, 81, died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Agape Nursing Home in West Columbia. She was born on February 14, 1931 in Charleston, SC. She was the fourth daughter of the late Francis Sams and Myrtle deLiesseline Minott and the wife of the late James Gadsden Seabrook who died in 1991.
She is survived by her three daughters, Betsy (Glenn) Jumper of Lexington, SC, Renee Shaver of Lugoff, SC, and Lisa (Jack) Mabelitini of Columbia, SC. She loved her seven grandchildren, Christopher (Stacia) Jumper of Asheville, NC, Michelle J. (Robbie) Downs of Lexington, SC, Richard, Michael and Paul Shaver of Lugoff, SC, and John and Kaitlyn Mabelitini of Columbia, SC. Mrs. Seabrook is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Quentin Shaver, Kaylee and Madison Downs and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Seabrook’s first love was the theater. She started her acting career at Dock Street Theatre in Charleston. She took leave from acting to become a wife, mother, and homemaker. When her children were older, she fulfilled her passion for acting and directing at Town Theater, Workshop Theater, and Trustus Theater. Another passion Mrs. Seabrook had was her pets. She spent many happy hours with her dogs, cats, horses and birds. Sassie, her Chihuahua, was her beloved “glued to her hip” lap dog.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The service will be conducted by Pastor Michael Watson. A private entombment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
