

LEXINGTON – Betty Louise (Tolleson) Mathis, 91, went to be with Christ on August 26, 2016. She was born January 28, 1925 in Goodlett, TX to the late Andrew Jackson and Sallie (Moore) Tolleson. She was the wife of the late Floyd E. Mathis. Betty was a secretary for the Civil Service and a member of West Columbia Church of Christ. She loved serving her church and had a deep faith. She was a strong Texas woman who never let her mobility issues slow her down. She was an accomplished seamstress who made clothes and quilts for herself, her family & friends. Betty enjoyed cake decorating, gardening & canning; especially her blueberry jam. She was predeceased by her son Gary E. Mathis, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Mrs. Mathis is survived by her daughter Cheryl E. Osland and husband, Edward, her son James A. Mathis and wife Susan; her grandchildren Sarah L. and Ryan T. Mathis, their mother Suzanne Mathis and her son Gary’s Widow Kristy Eason. She also leaves her loving 94 year old brother, Jack Felix Tolleson of Stinnett TX and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Caughman Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will be at the same Chapel Thursday September 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park.
