Beverly Lucylle Baker, 94, beloved Momma, Grandma, and Great Grandma, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2020. Born to Glenn and Nyla Rawson on January 24, 1926 in San Jose, California. She was a faithful wife of her late husband Arnold Baker for 55 years. She was also preceded in death by four of her children, Allen Harry (infant), Nyla Jean, and Harry Allen Baker, and Trudy Diane Strickland, and one grandchild, Kelly Baker. She is survived by her son, Karl Baker (Pamela), 15 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She trusted Christ as her Savior in 1975, at Trinity Baptist Church in Milton, Florida and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beaufort, SC, where her son, Karl, pastored for 45 years.
Beverly spent most of her married life in Milton, Florida, but shortly after the death of her husband in 2000 she went to live in Beaufort, SC with her son, Karl. She spent her last 20 years, surrounded by many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, usually playing games and spending as much time with all of them as she could. Many days the great-grandchildren were waiting to see if the “door was open,” which meant they could run over and get the latest sweet, baked just for them! Beverly was especially known for her competitive card games, that you did not LET her win! And win she did! She never missed a chance for a sarcastic comeback that left everyone laughing and admiring her quick wit!
She enjoyed knitting, cross-stitch, sewing, and crochet until her hands wouldn’t allow any more. She loved crossword puzzles, but her favorite time was spent playing Yahtzee, Phase 10, and UNO. In the last few years, she was so proud that she was almost finished reading her Bible all the way through for the third time!
Grandma will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family, for she loved them to the fullest!
