Billy R Shumpert

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Billy R. Shumpert, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Larry Christopher officiating. Interment will follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Shumpert was born May 26, 1935 in South Congaree, SC to the late Martin S. Shumpert and Corine Dooley Shumpert and passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Mr. Shumpert attended Nazareth Pentecostal Holiness Church. He helped originate Youth Baseball in Lexington and was an avid volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He loved NASCAR and was a people person. He will be missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Darlene Shumpert of Lexington; Son, Gregory Shumpert (Patti) of Lexington; daughter, Debbie Goldberg of Port Vue, PA; son, Cory Shumpert of Port Vue, PA; son-in-law, Mike Ragan of Lexington; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifton Shumpert of Lexington, Lewis Shumpert of West Columbia and sister, Katie Brown of Lexington. He was predeceased by his daughter, Shelly Ragan.
