Bryan Wayne “Butch” Phillips, 55, a devout Christian, loving father, and adoring husband went to his heavenly father on March 21, 2022 where he “received the crown of life that the Lord promised to those that love Him” (James 1:12). Butch was born on August 26, 1966 in Charlotte, North Carolina to Bill and Bernice Phillips.
Butch owned and operated a successful electric company in the midlands for many years. He was a devoted family man whose greatest joys were spending time with his family and sitting in a deer stand. Butch had a heart that not only enveloped his family but extended to many other children he “adopted” and loved along the way. Many young men that deer hunt today owe their start to Butch’s love of the sport and his joy in passing his passion onto the next generations of hunters. The lives he touched will forever be enriched for knowing and receiving his love and kindness.
A Christian man, Butch loved his church and the Lord, and was an active member at Kittiwake Baptist Church. His love of life and people extended to Honduras when he went on a mission trip in 2017. He was baptized and born again on June 10, 2018 at St. Helena Island. On November 7, 2020 Butch had a rare experience to meet Jesus and, by God’s grace, came back to us for a little while longer. His faith was strengthened and those around him are forever blessed to have been given the extra time with him.
The legacy that Butch leaves to his family and friends is one of kindness, patience, and love. The world has lost an amazing beautiful soul, but heaven has gained an angel. We know Papabear is at peace and will forever be in our hearts.
Butch is predeceased by his father, Bill, and is survived by his mother, Bernice; his wife, Tracey; his children, William Phillips, Brittany Little, Bryce Cox, Pharon Pittman, Nathan Pittman; his grandchildren, Madison, Caden, Ella, and his brother, Barry Phillips.
A service for Butch will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Kittiwake Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. We encourage everyone to wear camo to the service whether it be a shirt, hat or camo accessory. Butch would really love that.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kittiwake Baptist Church Missions Fund.
