WHITE ROCK – Cary Dowd Cruse, age 92, passed away March 28, 2021 in White Rock, SC. She was born on February 8, 1929 in Carthage, NC and was the daughter of the late Walter and Ida Dowd. Cary was a graduate of Cabarrus Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was married to the late Reverend Guy Calvin Cruse for 62 years.
Cary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse, friend, and church member. She was a humble servant of Christ with a nurturing heart who loved cooking for everyone and taking care of others.
Cary is survived by her children, Reggie (Amanda) Cruse and their children, Joshua (Paulene) Cruse and their daughter, Paige, Rebekah Cruse, and Keller Cruse; Karen (Kent) Peterson and their daughter, Kelsey Peterson; Joy Cruse and her sons, Calvin Lee and Cole Lee; and Keith Cruse.
She was predeceased by siblings, Mary Alice Hendricks, Katie Hardy, Virginia Dowd, Robbie Hamer, Jesse Dowd, Elbert Dowd, Curtis Dowd, Richard Dowd and Daniel Dowd.
A private graveside service was held for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, PO Box 367, White Rock, SC 29177 where Guy and Cary served for 33 years.
