Cathy Lehmann

LEXINGTON – Cathy Lehmann passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2011 after an extended illness. A memorial service will be held for Cathy on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church in Lexington, SC. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church narthex. The Reverend Helen Harrison Coker will conduct the service. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Born August 30, 1960 in Newberry, SC, she was the daughter of Carlyle and Hazel Grainger of Mullins, SC and the late Nan Dennis Black of Newberry, SC. She graduated from Newberry High School and attended Midlands Technical College. Cathy was employed by Lexington School District One in the Special Education Department at Lexington Middle School. Prior to this position, she served nine years in the Audit Department at the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church. She also was an active member of her children's PTA programs and in 2000 was the recipient of the Midlands PTA Volunteer of the Year Award. She was an active supporter of the Wildcat Cheerleading Team.

Surviving are her loving husband of 29 years, Robert W. Lehmann, sons, Charles Grainger Lehmann and William Carlyle Lehmann and daughter, Carason Eve Lehmann; sisters, Rose Marie Grainger of Newberry (Oscar) and Shelley G. Fetter of Sumter (Jim) and brother, Anthony Dennis of Summerville (Paige) and her in-laws, Dorothy and Oscar Hilyer of Lugoff, Ruth and Robert Lehmann Sr. of Mexico, NY and sisters in-law, Kelly Mattox of Columbia, Sue Jerrett (Richard) of Parish, NY, Barbara Lehmann of Elizabeth, NJ, Nancy LaPrate of Indian Trails, NC and Betsy Peters (Jim) of New Haven, NY. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are a treasured part of her extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to a trust fund established for Cathy's children at Wachovia Bank, 5490 Sunset Blvd., Lexington, SC 29072.
