Charles C. Hendrix passed away on May 31, 2025. He grew up and lived his life in Lexington SC. Born on April 26, 1937, he was a son of the late Henry Walter Hendrix Jr. and Mary Monts Hendrix. He was married to Karey Bedenbaugh Hendrix for 64 years.
He was a lifelong, active member of Zion Lutheran Church. He served as a Sunday School teacher, property committee member, and church council treasurer. He enjoyed attending Sunday School, worship, and various activities at Zion with family and friends. A former pastor once said that Charles was blessed to be a blessing to others as he always offered help when needed.
He opened “Charley’s Quic-Pic” on highway 378 in November 1967. He sold many gallons of gasoline, soft drinks, and snacks. It became a favorite spot for locals mainly because of hot dogs with Charley’s homemade chili. Ever the southern gentlemen, Charley always pumped gas for the ladies. It remained open until his retirement in November 1998.
Charley was a huge Clemson University Football fan. If the Tigers were playing in Death Valley, he was there. He loved his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He and his wife spent numerous hours enjoying their time with them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Walter (Linda) Hendrix; his children, Beth Jebali (Azmi), Kathy Bigham (Robert); grandchildren, Zach Jebali, Nora Barnett (Evan), Heather Williamson (Michael), Chris Bigham (Marybeth); and four great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Rose Hendrix; his sister-in-law, Jean Hendrix (Walter); sister and brother-in-law, Mayrant and Boyce Harmon.
The family would like to thank all care givers from Solutions for Living at Home especially Nadine Walters, and Pruitt Health Hospice Care.
