
LEESVILLE-Funeral services for Charles A. “Mac” MacDonald, 72, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, 820 West Dunbar Rd., West Columbia SC 29170. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lucas, DJ Carman, Greg Long, Seth Bickley, Gregory Long, DW Shirley and Eddie Turner. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Batesburg-Leesville Masonic Lodge # 138 and the Batesburg-Leesville Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
“Mac” was born on October 7, 1938 in Norwood, MA and passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011. He was the son of the late Ella MacCallum and Charles MacDonald. “Mac” served in the Air Force for 8 years and was a member of the Batesburg-Leesville Masonic Lodge # 138, a Past Master of DeRidder #271 Lodge of DeRidder, Louisianna and a member the Batesburg-Leesville Chapter 174 Order of the Eastern Star. He was a Shriner in the Habibi Temple and a Past Grand Priest of the York Rite Bodies in Louisianna. His hobbies included operating a Ham Radio and he enjoyed traveling and meeting others.
Mr. MacDonald is survived by his wife, Geneva Cheryl MacDonald; daughters, Mary Lewis, Sharlene Lawson, Rebecca Smyser, and Winona Olson; son, Charles Franklin MacDonald; six grandchildren; stepsons, DW Shirley and Charlie Shirley, step-granddaughter Celena, and step-grandson, David Shirley.
