
LEXINGTON- A graveside service for C. Freddy Mincey, 75, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 in Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, 1205 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072 or P.O. Box 131, Lexington, SC 29071.
Mr. Mincey was born February 5, 1936 in Ridgeway, SC and passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011. He was the son of the late Thomas R. Mincey and Beulah Harmon Mincey. Mr. Mincey was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. He retired from Western Electric/AT&T. Mr. Mincey served on many committees at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. He was in charge of the Cemetery Committee. In the past he served on the Building Committee and had been a trustee at Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. Also, he had served on the staff of the Parish Relations Committee.
Mr. Mincey was the coach of the Lexington Lions Semi-Pro Football Team. He was also the assistant coach of the Lexington High School Football Team under Coach Ingram. He played in the Shrine Bowl in 1954, he received the Distinguished Service Award, coached J. V., B Team, C Team and recreational football. He coached little league and pony league baseball. He founded Lexington church league basketball. Mr. Mincey was inducted into the Lexington Football Hall of Fame in 1998. He was a past president of the Lexington Jaycees.
Mr. Mincey is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marcia Copeland Mincey; daughter, Natalie M. Spence (Jimmy); sons, Calvin Mincey (Regina) and Thomas Mincey all of Lexington; grandchildren, William and Caleb Spence and Victoria and C. J. Mincey and brother, Elmer “Sonny” Mincey (Betty). He was predeceased by his sister, Ernestine Jones.
