A celebration of life will be held for David Allen Machado, 78, on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
David Machado was born on March 30, 1943 in Camden, South Carolina and passed away on April 22, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was the son of Joseph Machado and Ruby Melton.
Dave was a telephone lineman who built and designed beautiful homes and rode his Harley Davidson and Austin-Healey Sprite. His friends knew him as “Wild Man”, and he was loved for his wild spirit and irreverent sense of humor. David was a beloved substitute teacher at Lexington High School for many years after he retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company.
He married his wife, Judy Oswald Machado, in 1979 and they’ve built their home together board by board over the last 41 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather who led a life of passion, creativity and unconditional love for his family. He was a hero for all who met him, exuding strength through his decades of chronic illness.
He is survived by his four children, Michelle Williams, Daniel Machado, Sierra Machado, and Amber Machado; his grandchildren, Joshua Williams and Leila Williams; his great grandchildren, Emerson and Saylor Williams; his wife, Judy and his brother, Joseph Brown.
