Delbert Crawshaw, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born in Garden City, Kansas on September 4, 1946, to Bessie M. Taylor, and Dean A. Crawshaw. Known simply as “Del” to those closest to him, he was a man of deep kindness, quiet humor, and unwavering integrity.
Del loved giving back—whether as Scoutmaster and committee member of a Boy Scout troop in Pennsylvania or serving as webmaster for the Kings Grant Homeowners Association in Fayetteville, NC, where he and his wife lived for nearly two decades.
Del had a lifelong passion for technology and innovation. After graduating from college, he began his career at RCA, Inc., where he contributed to groundbreaking projects, including components of the Hubble Space Telescope. He, along with 3 others, then went on to found a $200 million dollar manufacturing and design startup company, Cardinal Technologies, Inc. Among many accomplishments, the company played a role in designing the iconic Tropicana orange juice container - though Del always humbly noted his focus was on the tech side. He concluded his career with Eaton Corporation, retiring in 2015, but Del never saw his work as just a job - it was a lifelong hobby that brought him joy. After retiring, he devoted more time to his second great passion - golf. He played as often as he could and treasured the sport for its challenge and friendships he'd made.
The real love of his life and soulmate was a woman he met during high school, Sharon Warner. As he would say, he had the privilege to have been married to her for 56 years. They have been known to quip that they survived the marriage early on by saying to each other "whoever leaves first, HAS to take the kids". However, it never came to that as they truly enjoyed the ups and downs of life together. Del is survived by his 2 wonderful children, Doug and Kelly. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments. He loved watching them share the values he had lived by and strived for, making them their own while building their own lives. He felt so lucky to remain such a close part of each of their lives, seeing his son marry Sara Pramik and his daughter marry Patrick Byers. Kelly and Patrick have a son, Caden, giving Del the title he adored most, Grandpa. He loved nothing more than to spend time with him whenever he could.
Del is preceded in death by his sister, Deanna and his nephew, Joseph. He is also survived by his niece Robin and her family and his nephews Stephen and Keith and their families. He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known him.
Memorial services will be held on June 30, 2025 at: Caughman Harman Funeral Home - Lexington Chapel, 503 N. Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072.
The service will be held at 3 p.m. with the option to visit with the family prior at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Del's name to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
