Mrs. Doris Jean “Mam Mam” Litz of Clearfield, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 27, 2023 at the age of 90. She has now been reunited with her late husband, James “Pap” Litz, who passed away in May 2020. Born in Bradford (Egypt) County to Thomas Graham and Beatrice Iva Cupler, she was the eighth of nine children. Mam Mam and Pap were longtime residents of Santee, SC for the last 39 years.
Mam Mam spent the majority of her life serving faithfully and happily as a military wife and raising her son, Allen. In their free time, Mam Mam and Pap travelled extensively in their RV across North America with the Holiday Rambler Club. Mam Mam also loved sewing and knitting, baking cookies, and eating Mexican food. Much of their time, however, was simply spent loving and spoiling their grandchildren and great-grands.
She is survived by her son, Allen “Dah” Litz (Judy); her grandchildren, Lori A. Smith (Neal) and Corey J. Bishop (Kayla); her great-grandchildren, McKayla McAteer (Tanner), Cadence Smith, and Skylar and Remy Bishop; her sister, Geraldine McKracken (Bill); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Beatrice Graham; her husband of 67 years, James Litz; sisters, Armenta “Tig” Kepart and Muriel “Dolly” Huganey (Joe); brothers, Orvis “Buck” Graham (Avenel), Dwight Graham (Sara), Burton Graham, Stanley Graham, and Dalmer “Bub” Graham (Ilajean); and grandson, Levi Bishop.
The Celebration of Life service for Mam Mam will be held at Steadman Baptist Church in Leesville, South Carolina on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive in the communities they have worked so hard to protect.
