

Ernest Daniel Shull, Junior of Lexington passed away January 26, 2026 at NHC of Lexington. Ernest was born September 19, 1937 in West Columbia, South Carolina to the late Ernest Daniel Shull, Sr and Jenny Lee Cannon Shull. Ernest was married to the late Patsy Hite Hentz Shull for 68 years.
Ernest was a graduate of Brooklyn Cayce High School and enjoyed keeping in touch with his fellow classmates. Ernest retired from Gibbes Volkswagen-Mazda as a paint and body technician. He was a lifelong, active member of St. David Lutheran Church, West Columbia. He served on the Altar Guild and was a funeral usher. Ernest was a member of the David Sunday School Class and Young at Heart. He was a dedicated Volunteer Firefighter for many years with Lexington Station 10 Fire Service before retiring, remaining in touch with his fellow Firefighters. He was a Woodmen of the World member. An avid family history buff, he was very active with the Daniel Nathaniel Shull Reunion for many years, building a diorama of the old Shull homeplace. Ernest also worked with the Dooley-Hite Reunion and Hentz Reunion. Ernest was loved by his church family and community friends. Junior and Patsy ate lunch at Wendy's in Lexington often and made new friends with staff and regulars.
An avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. Ernest shared these activities with his sons and his brothers. He spent many days on the water with extended family and friends.
Ernest leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law David W. Shull and Charlotte Knight Shull of Elloree and son Calvin H. Shull of Lexington. Brother and sister-in-law Carroll W. and Vivian Shull and sister-in-law Jackie Shull and their families. Ernest will be missed by his extended Knight-Tucker-Hoffman-Dorn family whom he spent many family gatherings with at Stumphole and in Sandy Run.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents and wife. His son and daughter-in-law E. Bryan Shull and Donna Burbank Shull and his brother George F. Shull, Sr
Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2026 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary at St. David Lutheran Church, West Columbia. With the service to follow at 3:00 pm.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent care he received at National Health Care of Lexington and Abbey Road Hospice of Columbia.
