Fred H. Boatwright Jr.

Lexington – Services for Fred H. Boatwright, Jr., 67, will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00 am, at Lexington Baptist Church with burial to follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, June 4, 2012, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Mr. Boatwright passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Born in Lexington, SC, he was the son of the late Fred H. Boatwright, Sr. and Vanoy Williams Boatwright. He was retired from the City of Orangeburg, DPU, for 39 years, serving 17 years as Manager. Mr. Boatwright was a Vietnam Vet and served in the U.S. Air Force. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from The University of South Carolina and received a Master’s Degree from S.C. State University.

Surviving are 2 sisters, Patricia Mathias and Janel Smith, both of Lexington; brother-in-law, Wade Smith of Lexington; niece, Marla Snowden; step-brother, L.B. Davis of Lexington; step-sister, Mary Hazelton and great-nieces, Katie Chatten and Sarah Snowden. Mr. Boatwright was preceded in death by, his sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Carl Bethea; brother-in-law, Pete Mathias his niece, Norma Mathias Chatten and his nephew, Don Mathias.
