

LEXINGTON - The Reverend L. Howard Maltby passed away on August 30th, 2014 surrounded by loving family members.
Father Maltby was born in 1956 in Miami, Florida, received a B.A. in History from Florida International University, and a Master of Divinity from the General Theological Seminary (Episcopal) in New York City. He was ordained a Deacon at St Andrew's Episcopal Church in Miami, Florida and Ordained a Priest at St Martin's in the Field, Pompano Beach, Florida. In 2002 he was called to serve as the Rector of St Alban's Episcopal Church in Lexington, South Carolina, and was very involved in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina.
He is survived by his parents, Arthur and Ann Maltby; his sisters, Nancy and Ginny; brothers-in- law, Stuart and Don; aunts and uncles, Alice and Earl Wietz, Pam and Jim Maltby; niece, Lauren; nephew, Jason; cousins, Jean Breeding, Eric Wietz, Carolyn Ellis, James, Charles and Johnathan Maltby.
In lieu of flowers, Fr. Maltby has requested that donations be made to the Youth / Young Adult Mission Scholarship Fund at St Alban’s, P.O. Box 882, Lexington, S.C. 29071. His family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Howard’s beloved St Alban’s Parish family, Rabbi Gerald Zelizer and his friends at Congregation Neve Shalom, Dr. Richard Bullock, the staff of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, JFK Medical Center, and Haven Hospice for their tremendous support throughout Howard’s valiant battle with cancer.
Visitation will be at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 403 Park Road, Lexington, SC on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.His funeral will be held at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 403 Park Road, Lexington, SC on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with the Right Reverend W. Andrew Waldo officiating and the Very Reverend Douglas McCaleb, Miami, Florida Preaching. The Interment of ashes will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
