

LEXINGTON - Funeral services for Isaac Dawsey “I.D.” Porter, Jr., 67, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Pisgah Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah Lutheran Church, 1350 Pisgah Church Road, Lexington, SC 29072 or to SCOA Cares Foundation PO Box 2046, West Columbia, SC 29171.
I.D. passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014. He was born on April 23, 1946 and was the son of the late Isaac Dawsey Porter, Sr. and Altha Slyce Porter.
Upon his graduation from Lexington High School, he was employed with SCE&G. After retiring, he worked part time with Caughman- Harman Funeral Home.
Above all he loved to do God’s work serving others and was very devoted to his wife and family. I.D. was a people person and never met anyone with whom he couldn’t share a story. He was athletic and loved to play softball as well as other sports. He was a coach to many in baseball, softball, basketball and football in Lexington County.
I.D. was a member of Pisgah Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Men in Mission, served on church council and the Golden Hearts. He was also a member of the Cayce Masonic Lodge #384 and the Lexington County Museum Board and he also delivered Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Wanda Kyzer Porter; sons, Andy (Angela), Kevin (Jenifer) and Toby (Erin); seven grandchildren, Brandon (Bethany) Smith, Kriston (John) Chandler, Dawsey, Gabrielle, Ashton, Kloey and Wesley Porter; three great-grandchildren, Porter and Lyla Smith and John Chandler III; sisters, Jackie Huff, Retha Armstrong and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Bone.
