

GILBERT - James “Jay” Henry Fox, IV, 34, died Sunday morning, June 30, 2013 at his home in Gilbert, surrounded by his family.
Jay was born in Lexington, SC, on January 24, 1979, the son of Leigh Thomas Crout and the late James Henry Fox, III. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Anne Pearson Thomas and his paternal grandparents, James Henry Fox, Jr. and Susan Eaton Fox. He is survived by his mother, Leigh Thomas Crout and step-father, V. Jerry Crout, of Gilbert, SC; grandparents, Dr. Albert P. and Helen Grumbles Thomas, of Lexington, SC; uncles, John L. (Bonnie) Fox, of Austin, TX, Paul D. (Melinda) Fox, of Louisville, KY, Col. (Ret) Albert “Rick” P. (JoAnn) Thomas, Jr., of Awendaw, SC and Michael “Mike” P. (Carole) Thomas, of Lexington, SC; aunt, Mary Anne Thomas, of Charleston, SC and numerous cousins and extended family.
Jay was a 1997 graduate of Gilbert High School and a 2002 graduate of the Marine Mechanics Institute in Orlando, FL. An avid fresh and saltwater fisherman, Jay’s trophy fish adorn his walls and fill numerous photograph albums. His philosophy was always “why work when you can fish.” His infectious laugh will be missed.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Lexington United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery.
