James Archie McGraw, Jr.

SOUTH CONGAREE – Funeral services for James Archie McGraw, Jr., 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers are, Larry Jackson, Steve Bowen, Jim Nobles, Eric and Joe Tollefson and Andrew Gates. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbott Drive, Suite 301, Cayce, SC 29033 or to Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church, 501 Church Street, West Columbia, SC 29172. Mr. McGraw was born March 13, 1931 in Atlanta, GA and passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015. He was a son of the late James Archie McGraw, Sr. and Annie Lee Copeland McGraw. James was a member of Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church. He served his country for 20 years in the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of Chatham Artillery in Savannah, GA. He was a retired Life Insurance Agent and a former Mason at the Lexington and Cayce Lodge. James was also a member of the Eastern Star, Lexington Chapter 176 and Cayce Chapter 260. James was a Sunday School Superintendent at Wesley Oak United Methodist Church in Thunderbolt, GA and a Sunday School teacher at Lexington United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Wilson McGraw; daughters, Anne Bouye (Arthur) of Lexington, Deborah McGraw of Lexington; sons, Jim McGraw of West Columbia and David McGraw of Lexington; 6 grandchildren and l great-grandchild; sisters, Betty Porterfield (Rev. Bob) of Rock Hill, SC, Mary Ann Hardy of Blacksburg, VA; Nancy Carolyn McGraw of Easley, SC; brothers, Dr. Walker McGraw (Marian) of Cumming, GA, Bill McGraw of Clemson, SC and stepson, Kenneth Wilson (Linda) of Nederland, TX. James was predeceased by his first wife, Carolyn Unglesbee McGraw; son, Joseph Raymond McGraw and daughter, Ruth Ellen Gatses. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses at Brian Center, Sidney Road and Lexington Medical Center.
