

LEXINGTON – James Caldwell Thomson, 59 died peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2011 after a short, but devastating illness in Lexington Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1952 in Ayr, Scotland and was the son of Robert S. Thomson and Mary Moore Thomson. Mr. Thomson is survived by his loving wife, life-long partner and friend, Amanda. Also by his sister, Jennifer and brother-in-law, Ian and their children, Susan and Michael all residing in Scotland. Also by his wife’s relations, mother-in-law, Beryl and brother-in-law, Mark Middleton who welcomed him as a part of their own family.
James moved with Amanda to South Carolina in 1990 to take a position with a German company. With the exception of a three-year posting in Canada, they have lived here ever since, have made many friends, and have been honored to take up United States Citizenship.
James was a business professional, qualified in Sales and Marketing. He was a proficient linguist, and was an avid fan of Formula One racing. In the latter years of living in the South, he also espoused a great interest in major league baseball and college football. Amanda is proud to work at the Lexington Main Library.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
