COLUMBIA – James E. White Sr. 85, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 10, 2013.
James graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and joined the U. S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946. James worked as a signal maintainer supervisor for Seaboard Railroad retiring with 43 years of service.
He was the son of the late George E. White and Gladys Tanner White. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lee Gulley White; brother, Richard White and sister, Joanne White Hess.
Mr. White is survived by his children, Gail White-Bookout (Crawford), James White, Jr. (Tonya), Duane Barnes (Heidi), Denise Blackstone (Don) and Donna Randolph (Phil), along with 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Graham W. White, Sr. (Betty) and his sister, June Baker; brother-in-law, Frank Gulley (Troy), and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with the Rev. Faye Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his nephews.
