Joan Ruth Farrow, 87, of West Columbia, passed away on September 14, 2020. She was born in North East, Pennsylvania. She is the daughter of the late Ward Hutchinson and Freda Grosholz Hutchinson. She was married to the late Samuel Farrow Jr., and a graduate of Salem University located in Salem,WV where she earned a degree in nursing.
Surviving are her son, Samuel Farrow V of Defuniak Springs, FL; daughters, Cynthia Payne of Winter Haven, FL, Debra Estes of West Columbia, SC, and Marian Martin of Savannah, GA. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Chrispen; brothers, Ward Hutchinson and Charles Hutchinson; stepmother, Ann Hutchinson; stepsister, Dorothy Bartlett and grandson, Sammy Farrow.
Mrs. Farrow was a member of Smithburg United Methodist Church and loved to garden, cook and was an accomplished seamstress.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Agape Hospice House of Lexington where she received excellent and compassionate care.
A memorial service will be held in WV at a later date.
