

LEXINGTON-Funeral services for John Newell Campbell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Lexington United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be McDonald, McKenzie, Ruben, Miller and Lybrand Law Firm. Memorials may be made to Lexington United Methodist Church, 309 E. Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072.
Mr. Campbell died suddenly on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. He was born in Alcolu, South Carolina to the late Janie Corbett and John Ellis Campbell. He was a loving husband to Carolyn O. Campbell, of Lexington, for 40 years. Mr. Campbell attended Manning Schools and graduated from University of South Carolina. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Mr. Campbell was awarded the Meritorious Service Award and was named the PMA outstanding tactical officer. He retired from State Farm Insurance Company and he worked at McDonald, McKenzie, Ruben, Miller and Lybrand Law Firm. Mr. Campbell was a devoted Gamecock Fan.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife; nephew, Walter Campbell of Summerville; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Broome (Bobby) of Great Falls and Patsy Threatt (Ronnie) of Lancaster; several loving nieces and nephews; numerous dear friends; and his 4 legged companion, Andy.
