Julie Derrick Allen, 82, ended her earthly life on the 25th of October, 2024. Julie was born in Columbia, SC and grew up in the family home in White Rock, SC. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Earle and Martha Richardson Derrick. She attended Dutch Fork Elementary School and graduated from Irmo High School class of 1960. She was a graduate of Newberry College and received her Masters of Social Work from Florida State University.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Russell Allen, III of Fort Worth, Texas and Michael Earle Allen of Columbia, South Carolina. She is also survived by a sister, Harriette Derrick Wunder, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Martha Earline “Earlyne” Derrick Monts.
Julie was an elementary school teacher and entered a second career as a Social Worker. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and served as President of the church council. She was a member of PEO educational sisterhood and served as its President.
A service in thanksgiving for her life will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church, 2801 Dutch Fork Road, Chapin, SC on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11 o’clock in the morning by the Rev. Megan Lineberger, with burial in the Bethel Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, P. O. Box 367, White Rock, SC 29177; Newberry College, 2100 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108; or a charity of one’s choice.
