Kathleen Haltiwanger

LEXINGTON – Funeral services for Kathleen Koon Haltiwanger, 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 B Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169.

Mrs. Haltiwanger was born August 20, 1924 in Lexington County, SC and passed away on Friday, May 20, 2011. She was a daughter of the late Henry Lee Koon and Katie Lou Hendrix Koon. Mrs. Haltiwanger was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church since 1950 and a member of Scatter Cheer Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School, Weekday Church School and Bible School at Mt. Tabor. She was a baptized and confirmed member at Faith Lutheran Church in Batesburg, SC. She worked in the office of Dependency Benefits in Washington, DC, New York City and Fort Jackson. She was a cosmetologist for three to four years and worked at Allied Chemical for eighteen to twenty years.

Mrs. Haltiwanger is survived by her husband, Homer F. Haltiwanger of West Columbia; son, Charles Lee Haltiwanger (Donna Joy) of Fletcher, NC; daughter, Carol Elaine Hyer (Paul J.) of Summerville; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and sisters, Virginia K. Pugh of Laurens and Sandra K. Hawkins of Batesburg; brothers, David Koon of Irmo and Robert Koon of Saluda. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Koon and sister, LaVada K. Wessinger.
