

Wayne was born in Union, SC, the son of Guy and Vivian Howell on September 15, 1940. While attending Union High School, he played drums and sang with a musical group, The Royals. They won competition, which missed an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show for not having a saxophonist in the group.
After graduating from Union High, he spent three years in the US Navy where he served on the destroyer, USS Robert Owens. He later graduated with a business degree from Newberry College. Wayne had a long career in sales and telemarketing.
He was a member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church where he served as a greeter, sang in the adult choir and taught adult Sunday school. He cherished being a member of the Sunday school Friendship Class.
Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Becky Howell, with whom he enjoyed many happy years and also by older brother, Bill Howell.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Sue Howell. They enjoyed travelling, listening to music and football games, especially the Clemson Tigers. Also survived by daughter, LeAnne Keeler and husband, Todd of Gaithersburg, MD; son, Brad Howell of Columbia, SC; seven grandchildren: Ben (Janelle) Keeler, Rachel (Travis) Mitchell, David (Abby) Keeler, Jonathan (Victoria) Keeler, Hannah Keeler, Jackson Howell and Parker Howell; seven great grandchildren; stepson, Robin Neal and wife, Terry; stepdaughter, Susan DiBiase and husband, Larry; step grandchildren, Layla (Chris) Digby, Jason Neal, Selena DiBiase and Christopher DiBiase.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 14 at 2:00 PM at Riverland Hills Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the atrium following the service.
