

LEXINGTON - Funeral services for Linda Alexander Butler, 76, will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Lexington Baptist Church, 308 E. Main Street, Lexington, SC 29072 with interment in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the church. Rev. Dan Williams and Rev. Jerry Freeman will conduct the services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington Baptist Church Music Ministry.
Mrs. Butler was born October 21, 1937 in Greenville, SC and passed away on April 2, 2014. She was the oldest daughter of the late B.F. Alexander and Waddy Stewart Alexander Mullinax. She was a member of Ebenezer P.H. Church from 1972 to 1982 where she served as Director of the Girl’s Auxillary (G.A.’s) as well as other ministries of the church. In 1983, she joined Lexington Baptist Church where she served as a teacher of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She also helped with various other ministries of LBC. Also, her love of caring for and nurturing children led her to have a home operated day care for 16 years.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her husband, Rayburn “Ray” H. Butler of Lexington, SC; son, Phillip R. Butler of Irmo, SC; daughters, Julie B. Carter (Lee) of Lexington, SC; Elizabeth B. Bevill (Todd) of Suwanee, GA; Laura B. Schooler (Rev. Charles Schooler) of Evington, VA, and son, Alexander H. Butler (Charlene) of Mauldin, SC; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth A. Howard of Simpsonville, SC; Sandra A. Phillips (Jyles) of Greenville, SC and brother, Barry F. Alexander (Teresa) of Lexington, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Phillip and Keith Alexander.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital and all of the doctors and nurses that cared for Linda. A very special thank you goes to Doctors Jamee and Christian Steen and Dr. S. Srinivasan, of Senior Primary Care Practice at Palmetto Health Richland. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
