

LEXINGTON - Lou Bobbitt Clark passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, December 10, 2015. Mrs. Clark was born July 6, 1928 in Prescott, AZ, and is preceded in death by her husband Dr. F. L. “Bob” Clark, Sr. She was the daughter of the late Mr. N.T. Bobbitt and Mrs. Lucille Covington Bobbitt and stepmother Lucille Kitron Bobbitt. She is also preceded by her special aunt and uncle, Thomas A. and Sarah Cauthen of Orangeburg, SC, with whom she lived after the death of her mother.
Mrs. Clark graduated from Orangeburg High School and Winthrop College, where she attained a BS degree in Home Economics. She then graduated in Laboratory Technology from the SC Medical College. Mrs. Clark and her husband spent most of their married lives in Cayce, SC, where they raised their family.
Surviving are her children, Franklin “Frank” LeRobert Clark, Jr. (Jayne), Elizabeth “Sissy” Fortner (Bruce), and Thomas “Tom” Ricks Clark (Tammy). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tripp Clark (Kelly), Alia Mitchell (Lee), Clark Fortner, Catharine Clark, Cameron Clark, and her great-grandson Jax Clark. Her grandchildren will always treasure their trips to the zoo with Gamie.
Her special family includes, Jerrie Ann and Bill Fath of Bath, NC along with their children, John, Grant and Kara, to whom she was affectionately known as Mama Lou. Her cousin, Mrs. Joan Cauthen Bamberg of Mt. Pleasant, SC and her children Terri, Hammond and Betsy were very special to her.
Mrs. Clark was an active homemaker and volunteered at Lexington Medical Center over 30 years. In her younger years she was very involved with Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Cayce and served in the Brookland Grammar School PTA. She was a lifetime member of the Lexington Medical Society Auxiliary. She and her husband moved to Lake Murray where she became an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Her service to God was a reflection of her deep faith in her Creator. This was also evident in her love of nature and all of God’s creation.
Mrs. Clark’s arrangements are being handled by Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington. Visitation will be in the funeral home chapel from 5-7pm on Sunday, December 13. A funeral service will follow at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1420 North Lake Drive, Lexington, on Monday, December 14 at 3:00pm. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church’s Building Fund.
