

Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the son of the late Lucille Douda Arnold and Lloyd Douda.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Emy Douda and their three children: Paul Douda (Robin) of Anderson, South Carolina, Laura Gaston (Michael) of Cabot, Pennsylvania, Philip Douda (Angela) of Gilbert, South Carolina; sister, JoDee Douda of Lexington, South Carolina; six grandchildren: Drew Douda (Alyssa), Logan Gaston, Emy Gaston, Michael Gaston, Lauren Douda and Katherine Douda; two great grandchildren, Dustyn and Georgia Douda; and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Douda (Pamela) of Elgin, Illinois.
Marvin was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lexington. He was a graduate of Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he excelled in football and baseball. He went on to attend Coe College in Cedar Rapids prior to joining the United States Navy. He was stationed primarily in bases in California, Guam, and Germany. Upon leaving military service, he began employment in the corrugated box industry which took him from Iowa to Nebraska, Georgia, and ultimately to South Carolina. He selected the Columbia facility as it would allow him to reside nearby on Lake Murray. He was an avid fisherman and golfer. He was well known for his July 4th lake-side pig pickings with neighbors, friends, and Hallmark Shores Association. Even with a fulfilling career, Marv's proudest achievement was his loving family.
A celebration of his life was held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church Youth Program, 2350 Augusta Hwy, Lexington, SC 29072.
