Mary passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 after a brief and unexpected illness. She was born November 1, 1955 in West Columbia, SC to the late Elzie Glenn and Jacqueline Koon Glenn.
Mary graduated from Airport High School in 1972. She was a caring, very hard working and strong willed lady whose love was her God, her family and her work – in that order.
She grew up as part of a large, loving family. She was happiest when she was with her grandchildren at her vacation home in Sunset Beach, NC, or with her sisters on their annual journey to Sanibel Island, Florida to spend hours combing the beach for seashells.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She more than enjoyed a day off, relaxing drinking coffee and reading every word of whatever newspaper was available.
As a single Mom, she was devoted to her son, juggling work and special time with him. As a professional, she had worked in various supervisory capacities until she and her husband started their own business. Everyone who knew her could count on her opening and closing the doors for more than 20 years. Her passing has left a hole that can never be filled.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth “Ken” Ray; her son, Kristoffer “Kris” Barnes (Nan); her grandchildren, Mary Hayes, Sally and Mac Barnes; her sisters, Terry Miller (Henry), Vickie Glenn; brother, Rick Glenn (Tammy); brother-in-law, Alvin Baughman and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Larry Glenn and her sister, Cathy Glenn Baughman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 15 at Mt. Horeb UMC in Lexington. Burial will be in the church cemetery following the service. Mary will lie in state from 10:00 am in the sanctuary and funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends following the burial in the Mt. Horeb Student Hall.
