He is the son of Bryan Keith Amodio and Christina Elizabeth Sims. Matthew was born with a bright light in his soul on December 28th, 2000. He lived with his mother in Tega Cay, SC., and his father in Lexington, SC.
He graduated Lexington High School, and then proudly joined the US Coast Guard in the Fall of 2021. He served 3 years in South Padre Island, TX. as a patrol boat machinist. When he returned home, he obtained his CDL license and drove his favorite ‘Big Rigs’ throughout the Southeast, then he settled in Midland, TX supporting oil drilling operations in the Permian basin for the past 8 months.
Matthew strongly loved his friends and family, and went out of his way to show that he cared deeply for all of them. He was spontaneous, funny, goofy, and showed amazing compassion to those of us needing to hear a tender message. He loved the South Carolina Gamecocks - he loved them so passionately, he could barely contain himself if they fell behind.
Matthew had a deeply personal relationship with Jesus, he loved God, and constantly sought His guidance; And once Matthew loved you, that love tied him to you forever. He left us too early with unfinished business, yet we all know that he wants each of us to live fully, to be happy, and to have no regrets. His wonderful infectious smile, and his powerful influence will be felt forever. Matthew leaves behind a tremendous number of fond memories. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his mother Christina Sims (Scott), his father Bryan Amodio (Lora), and his three sisters: Alyssa Sims, Kyndall Sims, and Sophia Amodio. He also had four step-sisters: Nina Pinckney (Caleb), Rebecca Adkins, Madison Brabham, and Heather Brabham. Matthew has a big family with many many others that he cared deeply for both from extended family and a lot of friends. He loved them all very much.
Matthew is pre-deceased by his Grandmother Irene Swink, Grandfather Kenneth Swink, Uncle Kenny Swink, Grandfather Robert Amodio, and Uncle Mike Amodio.
God recognized Matthew’s loyalty, faithfulness, and most of all his loving heart. God in Heaven recruited Matthew, and he tested him. Impressed, God then hired him on the spot as a new ‘Forever Angel’. Matthew’s new job in God’s kingdom is to look over each and every one of us.
Matthew has a tattoo of ‘Broken Window Serenade’ by Whiskey Myers, a song telling a story of love, loss, and longing. It’s a song of struggles and hardships. The lyrics fittingly echo Matthew as he sings to all of us hurting right now:
“I love you so…
I thought you should know.”
