She was born November 22, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina to Jamie H. Christmas and the late Charlie C. Christmas.
Merrie is survived by her daughters, Deborah Breazeale Latimer (Brandt) of Lexington, SC and Christina Breazeale Jacobs (Brian) of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley Latimer, Caroline Latimer and Blake Latimer; siblings, Ronnie Christmas (Debbie) and Linda Flake (Richard).
Merrie was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counseling and was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
She had a long and rewarding career as a Special Education teacher. After 34 years of teaching, she retired as a Board Certified teacher from Lexington/Richland School District 5.
Merrie was an avid traveler and visited countless countries. She wanted to see and experience as much of the world as she possibly could.
Merrie was the “Bracelet Lady” at Lexington Oncology, where she passed out handmade bracelets to the women receiving chemotherapy. This brought her such joy and she found such inspiration in her conversations with these women.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Lexington Medical Center.
In accordance with her wishes, no service will be held.
