Mr. Bickley graduated from Lexington High School in 1945. He played football at Lexington High School and went on to play football at Newberry College. He joined the US Army and served in WWII as a medic in the Pacific Theater. Ray married Nancy Marlene Livingston in November 1951. He worked at Fort Jackson Hospital and Moncrief Hospital as a surgical tech. Ray was a member of the Lexington Jaycees, IPTAY, Lexington County Clemson Club and the SC Model T Club. He enjoyed gardening, Clemson football and his 1929 Model T.
He is survived by his children, Neil (Lu), Teresa, Burt Bickley of Lexington; Sam (Denise) of Winston, NC; grandchildren, Jim (Elizabeth) Bickley, Laura (Brandon) Cox, Justin and Jonathan Bickley and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene Livingston Bickley and granddaughter, Melissa Bickley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Providence Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Pallbearers are Jim Bickley, Jonathan Bickley, Justin Bickley, Rip Corley, Brandon Cox, Bob Harmon, Earle Kyzer and George Schneider. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Caughman, Roscoe Caughman, Edwin Corley, Charlie Mayer, Cotton Riddle, Henry Wessinger and Robby Wilkins.
