GILBERT – Funeral services for Robert Earl Combs, 89, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday October 12, 2011 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the funeral home.
Mr. Combs was born March 17, 1922 in Ware County, Georgia and passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2011. He was the son of the late Robert Leon Combs and Bessie Mae Bishop Combs. Mr. Combs was a Veteran of World War II and Korea and retired from the United States Navy and Civil Service. Mr. Combs was a manager and pitcher for the US Navy Sub Pac baseball team.
Mr. Combs is survived by his daughters, Georgette Osbon (Neil) of Augusta, GA, Katherine Sakovich (John) of Cayce, Carol Kennedy (Eddie) of North Augusta, and Germaine Carter of Lexington; grandchildren, Wesley and Lindsey Kennedy and Hayden and Addison Carter; sister, Ogreta Roberts of Tallahassee, FL. He was predeceased by his sisters, Vivian Moody, Juanita Rentz and Nell Ford.
