

Dr. Robert Earle Hooper, 69, of Lexington, SC passed away on December 1, 2023. He was born on May 7, 1954, in Youngstown, OH. Bob was known for his loving, caring, and compassionate nature and will be remembered by all who knew him as a great listener.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Teri; son, Matt (Laura) and their three children: Tatum, Avery Mae, and Rhett; son-in-law, Jason and his three children: Jackson, Caroline, and Andrew; and sister, Bev (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Irene Hooper; daughter, Erika Yaman; and sister, Nancy Junaluska. Bob took immense pride in his family and he was, for them, a beloved source of wisdom and spiritual guidance.
Dr. Hooper had an impressive educational background, having obtained a BS in Psychology from Youngstown State University, a Master’s from Covenant Theological Seminary, and a PhD from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!).
Bob served as a Captain in the US Army before beginning his career as a Psychologist. Dr. Hooper owned and operated Columbia Counseling Center, a Christian counseling practice, for 38 years. Through his work, he positively impacted countless individuals and families, bringing hope and healing into their lives.
Bob was an active member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, where he worshipped, enjoyed life-long friendships, and served as an elder for over 30 years. Bob LOVED singing and shared his gift to bless others in significant and sacred moments over the years including weddings, funerals, and church services.
Visitation for Dr. Hooper will be held on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home in Lexington, SC, 503 North Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29072. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 7th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Lexington Presbyterian Church, 246 Barr Rd, Lexington, SC 29072.
Robert Earle Hooper was a man whose life was defined by his faith. He noted shortly before his passing that "God provides for what He plans, and His plans are good." Bob’s faith, joy, compassion, dedication, and love inspired those whose lives he touched and will continue to resonate through them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
