Robert “Bob” Everett Lyons, Jr. passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Lexington Community Hospice House (Agape Care). He was born on April 25, 1938 in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was one of two children, sister, Patricia Ann Lyons Yager (deceased), born to the late Ethel Lyn Koyi Lyons and Robert Everett Lyons, Sr.
Robert was in the US Navy aboard the USS McCard (DD 822). After separating from the Navy, he joined the Norfolk Virginia Police Department, where he served for 10 years. Following that, Bob joined as a volunteer firefighter and Assistant Chief with Lexington County Fire Service (LCFS). He began his firefighting career at Station 9 Oak Grove and then moved to Station 10 in Lexington. He also served on the advisory board for LCFS.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Anne Craft Lyons; his three children, Robert E. Lyons III (Peggy), Lisa Dial (Jeff), and Elizabeth Lyn Hutto (Blake); his five grandchildren, Lauren Lyons, Ashley Bishop (Trey), Harlan Lyons, Austin Dial (Becky), and Taylor Dial (Kim); his two great-grandchildren, Carson Dial and Declan Dial; and his dog, Little Bit. Bob also left behind many friends that loved him greatly.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington Community Hospice House for their excellent care.
The service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Church of the Redeemer in Orangeburg, SC.
