Sam was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 21, 1998 to John and Sandy Faust. From the time he arrived in this world, he was fearless and met everyone with that hundred-watt smile of his. More times than not, he couldn’t be bothered with shirt or shoes for life was full of adventure and he just wanted to get to it as fast as he could.
At 13 years old, a Type I diabetes diagnosis tried to slow him down, but in typical Sam fashion, he took it by the horns. In that same year, he ran his first half marathon (with no training) and participated in several Mud Runs with his dad. He became a voice and was nominated as an ambassador for kids like him by partnering with the American Diabetes Association and the Tour De Cure, which raises money for diabetes research. Sam was the youngest rider to first complete the full 100 miles on a bike. He loved anything to do with the outdoors and especially enjoyed hiking and camping. One of his favorite places to camp was at Edisto Beach State Park with his mom and sister.
Sam leaves behind his parents, Sandy Faust, John Faust (Michelle); his sister, Savannah, and two step siblings, Jackson and Delaney Lutz. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Johnny Faust (Pam), Patricia Sauls, and Nancy Conklin, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins who will dearly miss Sam’s presence in their lives.
Sam’s Celebration of Life will be at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church at 10 o’clock in the morning on Saturday, March 18, 2023. After the celebration, the family will host visitors immediately following in the Fellowship Hall at the church.
