Born on January 13, 1966, in Greenville, South Carolina, Todd was the beloved son of Peggy Padgett Smoak of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and the late Dr. Heyward Hudson. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, the Honorable Gerald Clarence Smoak. Todd grew up in Walterboro, South Carolina, where he formed lifelong friendships and a deep love for sports.
Todd graduated from John C. Calhoun Academy, where he proudly played football and basketball for the Warhawks. Those years on the field and court reflected his competitive spirit, teamwork, and love of camaraderie that stayed with him throughout his life. Todd loved watching his daughter Kinsey embrace his love for competitive sports on the basketball court and soccer field.
Todd earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the College of Charleston in 1988. After graduation, Todd built a successful professional life, working in several industries including insurance, food and beverage, and home renovation. For the past 16 years, he served as the Executive Vice President of Sales for Lifetime Cabinets & Countertops, a role he truly loved. Todd took great pride in helping families bring their home renovation dreams to life and was known for his knowledge, patience, and genuine care for his customers.
Todd is also survived by his sisters, Tara Hudson Snyder (Lance) and Ashley Hudson Scott (Jeff); and his many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Todd was an avid and lifelong supporter of Gamecock Athletics, especially Gamecock Football. He treasured the time spent tailgating and attending games with family and friends and rarely missed a home game since childhood. Those Saturdays in Columbia were among his happiest moments.
