Bill was a graduate of Williston-Elko High School and attended The University of South Carolina. He worked at the local grocery store in the meat department as a butcher for a brief period. He was employed at Savannah River Site as First Line Supervisor in Health Protection Operations and retired from working there after 30 years.
Bill was a lifelong Gamecock fan. He was a self-taught mechanic and enjoyed working on his cars, especially his corvettes. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, golfing, fishing, playing his guitar, and watching MotorTrend. He was happy to help his family and friends when he saw them in need. Bill’s life was enriched by the companionship of his beloved cats who were a constant source of comfort and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Mack; daughter, Tiffanie Rose Mack Powell (Randolph); son, Claye Mack; brother, Karl Edward Mack, Jr. (Donna); brother, Paul Rast Mack (Renee); and numerous nephews and niece.
To honor his wishes, there will be no formal services. Cremation has taken place. A private dinner for family and friends will be held on a later date for a celebration of life to share memories and stories.
The family requests that memorials and donations in remembrance of him to be made to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road, Aiken, SC 29801.
